Mountain ecology

I am a mountain ecologist. I study mountains, and more precisely the (changes in the) distribution of plant species in mountain regions.

As such I study both native and non-native species and how they are affected by human influence in the mountains.

Mountain ecology is an old discipline, historically driven by fanatic botanists recording plant occurrences in the European mountain regions. Now it groups a wide variety of scientists from all over the world, grouped in several international networks that try to answer big questions, like GLORIA (upward range shifts on mountain tops) and MIREN (plant invasion in mountains).
